Reconnecting with Nature
Hamish Mackie, born in 1973, is a distinguished British sculptor celebrated for his dynamic wildlife sculptures. Raised on a livestock farm in Cornwall, England, he developed an early affinity for animals. Mackie's output predominantly features bronze sculptures, though he also works with silver and stainless steel.
His artistic process is characterised by a loose, fluid handling of materials, capturing the essence and spirit of his subjects.
Over his career, he has undertaken extensive travels to study wildlife in their natural habitats, visiting regions such as Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and India. These experiences have profoundly influenced his work, enabling him to depict animals with remarkable accuracy and vitality.
