An Internal Sense of Peace
Danielle O'Connor Akiyama is a Canadian artist renowned for her vibrant and expressive paintings that blend Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Born in Toronto in 1957, she initially pursued a career in art therapy, working with emotionally disturbed adolescents and oncology patients. Her passion for painting led her to study sumi-e, traditional Japanese brush painting, and attain the prestigious Master's Seal.
Over her 50-year career, Danielle has developed a distinctive style characterised by luminous images that vibrate with life, energy, and colour.
In recent years, having relocated to the west coast of Ireland, Danielle has drawn inspiration from the region's unearthly beauty, wild Atlantic coast, and ever-shifting light. Her work continues to captivate collectors worldwide, celebrated for its fusion of Eastern and Western artistry and its ability to evoke a sense of joy and wonder.
This film for Clarendon Fine Art provides us with exclusive access to her creative studio, her inner sanctum, and was used to launch a national sales exhibition campaign.
